Life at La Maison
Visits are allowed 24 hours a day. No restrictions are set for these visits unless required by the patient. However, La Maison does take measures to protect and respect its patients’ tranquility. All visitors must sign the registry when entering and exiting the premises.
Children accompanied by an adult and under their constant surveillance are always welcome.
Alcoholic beverages are allowed in the rooms. They must be brought in by the patient or their loved ones. At no time should their use be detrimental to the well-being of other patients.
Per the law, La Maison is a smoke and cannabis-free environment within its walls. The patient and their loved ones can smoke only outside in designated locations. The same goes for e-cigarettes. If the patient wishes to smoke, they must always be accompanied by a member of their family or a loved one.
The patient’s loved ones can bring a pet to La Maison. Cats and dogs are allowed during visits. However, you must first notify the nurse, and visitors must be committed to their close supervision and care. They are permitted in the patient’s room only. If they are on a leash and their presence does not bother other patients, they may also be allowed on the patios and outdoor areas of La Maison.
In Memoriam and estate donations are accepted and encouraged. The best way to thank the staff and volunteers is to donate to La Maison de la Sérénité. Staff and volunteers do not and cannot accept tips, gifts, or personal donations from patients or their loved ones. Sweets and snacks are accepted and shared with the healthcare team. As a token of thanks and appreciation for the care and services received, families are invited to donate to La Maison de la Sérénité to support our organization and enable it to maintain free and accessible care and services. Every dollar helps!

Meals and snacks are provided free of charge. Meals may be taken in the patient’s room or in the dining room, depending on their wishes and/or condition. Patients may request a snack from the nursing staff at any time. Mealtimes and menus are presented to patients on arrival.
The meals served are prepared and concocted by a team of cooks who ensure that meals are varied and trendy. The team also offers themed menus for Christmas, New Year, Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc. To suit the needs and tastes of the patient, the family can also bring home cooked food to La Maison, store it in the refrigerator, and reheat it in the microwave oven in the patient’s room.
Eating is one of life’s pleasures, so why not enjoy it until the very last moment!
Visitors can enjoy meals cooked by the kitchen team at an affordable rate. Meals for visitors are taken in the dining room or, on occasion, can be eaten in the patient’s room with their agreement. Visitors must order and pay for their meal from the volunteer at the reception desk. The dining room is accessible at all times. It is equipped with crockery, microwave oven, toaster, and kettle. Visitors can, therefore, bring their dishes and heat them.
Mealtimes are as follows:
- Breakfast is served between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m.
- Lunch is served between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.
- Supper is served between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m.
